The Apratim Media Foundation organized the ‘Apratim Mahavkta’ open elocution competition for the citizens during the auspicious year of the State’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2010-2011. This initiative received tremendous appreciation, including from the late Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Subsequently, the competition was held in 6 Revenue Regions of Maharashtra, with participants representing various districts. During that time, 30 subjects, ranging from farmer suicides to global warming, were presented in alignment with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

In the intervening years, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were declared in 2015, focusing on the broader economic, environment, and social aspects. Recognizing the need to bridge political and social divides and to address political will and collective efforts for holistic and sustainable development, Dr. Anil Phale formulated a unique concept and action plan too.

This vision materialized into the ‘Apratim Mahavkta’ – The Public Talent Reality Show Series 2032 – Towards the Goal of Sustainable Development.’ The initiative encourages journalists to actively participate in their routine responsibilities, not only as reporters but also as coordinators. This involvement ensures local inclusivity and contributes significantly to quality, transparency, and productivity in sustainable development.

Development journalism involves encouraging journalists and media organizations to contribute to various developmental aspects. In acknowledgment of this, the foundation commenced the ‘Chauthastambh State-level Special Journalism Awards’ in 2010. Furthermore, on January 2023, during the celebration of ‘Journalism Day (Darpan – Marathi Patrkar Din)  Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde awarded these honors.

During this program, the honourable Chief Minister unveiled the logo of ‘Apratim Mahavkta – The Public Talent Reality Show Series 2032 – Towards Sustainable Development Goals Agenda.’ This grand event serves as a visual representation of the journey towards the sustainable development objectives.
