Preetam Phale

Director, Apratim Media

Preetam Phale serves as the Director of Apratim Media Foundation and is currently employed as a Social Worker in the Gynecology Department of MGM Medical College & Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad). In her role, she provides counseling to women on health-related issues and guides them through their pregnancies.

Having earned her Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from CDJ College in Shrirampur in 1986, Preetam pursued her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) at the Karve Institute of Social Service (KISS), Pune, completing it in 1988. Later, in 1993, she undertook a Bridge Course in Dramatics from BAMU Aurangabad. With over 25 years of experience, Preetam has been actively involved in sustainability, women empowerment, and health-related activities. She has collaborated with renowned social institutes such as Bhartiya Samaj Seva Kendra, Pune (BSSK); Asha Kendra, Puntamba, Ahmednagar District; Janarth, and Sakar, Aurangabad.

During her tenure with BSSK, Preetam conducted surveys for the Adoption Scheme in Pune and engaged in various regular activities. Between 1989 and 1991, she worked in rural areas of Shrirampur & Kopergaon Taluka of Ahmednagar District, initiating Anganwadi (Montessori Schools) for Asha Kendra. Preetam organized workshops for teachers and members of rural women organizations, as well as special counseling camps for deserted women. She also co-led a march on Mantralay, advocating for the legal rights of these women.

In 1992, Preetam contributed to services related to the adoption process and parental care of orphan children on behalf of Sakar & Janarth in Aurangabad. Joining Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust’s Hospital as a Social Worker/Counselor in 2006, she delivered lectures at women’s camps and coordinated performances on stage to address adolescent problems.

A performer since her college days, Preetam has participated in numerous cultural programs alongside well-known artists. Her solo act (One-act play) of ‘Warhad Nighalay London la’ by Late Laxman Deshpande received multiple awards, with over 100 shows to her credit. She was honored by Late Vasantdada Patil (Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra) for the best performance at Sangli. In the 1988-89 Youth Festival of Pune University, she was awarded ‘The Best Performer’ (State Level). From 1986 to 1988, Preetam secured multiple prizes in prestigious competitions in Pune like Vijapure Karandak. She has also participated in programs on Aakashwani (Radio, GOI). Throughout the journey of Apratim Events, she anchored programs such as Rangbasant, Naad Brahmh, Apratim Mahavkta, and many others.
